CoinStar has a promotion now where gift certificates don’t cost anything. Instead of being charged so many cents on the dollar to change my coins to cash, I was able to get iTunes store credit for free. I got about $90 worth of change turned into iTunes credit, which I’ve decided to blog about. So a new category “iTunes” is being created. I had exactly $90.88 to spend.
My intention is blow through that money before April 17, 2010.
Jan 17, 2010: SkyScan iPhone app, $3.17 This app has proven to be very useful in my photography quests. It tells me when the sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset will happen every day. If I wanted to know the ascension/declination/azimuth/altitude of Venus, to capture it in a photo, I could look that up, based on this app’s ability to determine my proper location, with the GPS. Now I just need a 1200mm lens… This app, combined with WeatherBug, helped me take this photo of the moon.
Feb 2, 2010: Open Your Eyes by Shawn Fisher, $0.99. Shawn Fisher sings in a band that my cousin plays guitar in. Open Your Eyes is this band’s first single on their new publishing/record contract! EVERYONE GO BUY THIS RIGHT NOW. 
Feb 14, 2010: Bad Romance, the Remixes, by Lady Gaga, $6.45. Yes, I plan on buying everything she has for sale on iTunes.
Feb 26, 2010: Al Jazeera news iPhone app, $3.17. Best source for middle eastern news, hands down. And their coverage of the rest of the world is also very interesting. The video quality of this app is superb: live streaming TV. I have been watching it a lot lately, while they cover the Iraqi elections.
