So less than a year ago, I sign up for blockbuster at the same price as Netflix. Blockbuster gives me effectively twice the DVDs for the same price ($17.99). Nice! But then in September, they decide to raise their prices. Not so nice. I decide to continue at a price almost 40% higher than Netflix. Yesterday, however, I get yet another email from Blockbuster saying they are raising the price again another 40% beyond the already inflated price.
At first I thought the email might be a fake, a hacker’s attempt to gather information from customers of a particular website. So I contacted Blockbuster customer support. They said the email is real, and they are raising the price again.
The new price for 3 DVDs at a time with unlimited in store exchanges is $34.99. Unbelievable! That’s almost twice what I was originally paying when I switched from Netflix to Blockbuster.
Where do they get the nerve? If they can’t get their prices right to start with, they don’t deserve my business. Really, I’d like to go back to Netflix, but I think what I’ll do is simply change to Blockbuster’s DVDs through the mail option, which is a $1 cheaper than Netflix.
That’ll teach ‘em.

Gas prices are pushing up the postal rates and that forces changes in bulk mail contracts. You will see it hit all on-line stores and even food very soon.
